Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk any kind
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour heat-treated and cooled
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips mini or regular

Instructions

  • Heat-treat the flour: place flour in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 30-45 seconds until it reaches 165°F. Let cool completely.
  • In a small bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together with a fork or small whisk until light and fluffy, about 1 minute.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and milk until combined.
  • Add the cooled flour and salt, and stir just until no dry streaks remain. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Enjoy immediately, or refrigerate for 10 minutes for a firmer texture.

Notes

1. Always heat-treat flour to kill any bacteria – do not skip this step.
2. For a vegan version, use vegan butter and plant-based milk. Ensure chocolate chips are dairy-free.
3. For a gluten-free version, substitute with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
5. If the dough seems too dry, add 1 teaspoon of milk at a time until desired consistency.
